›Gedankensalat‹ is one of my favourite German expressions. ›Thoughts Salad‹ means to have an more or less unorderly chaos of thoughts in the bowl of ones head … I think, it should be as kindly loved by the world as ›Zeitgeist‹, ›Kindergarten‹, ›Hinterland‹ or ›Ersatz‹.

On the 6th of February I had the honor to interview Matt Ruff during his european tour in Frankfurt/M. (Hopefully at some point this year, this interview will be provided here or elsewhere in the english blogosphere.)

= Hebrew for ›great confusion‹, originally the name for the chaos at the beginning of creation. »{T}he earth was without shape {tohu} and empty {bohu}« as it is written in Genesis 1:2 of the New English Translation.

The original measures 375 x 270 mm and was drawn in February 1999 with a steel pen and Windsor & Newton Ink.

During my wild boheme days in Vienna I lived together with two other artists in a community in Margareten (one of them, David Ramirer is blogging in German and I recommend that you browse his art in his old blog »Randnotizen« (›Side Notes‹) and his new blog). In that time we made free jazz together and I had the opportunity to play on a excellent Steinway piano. Here you can listen to the 6th and final session of my »Hanging Around The Heart« series. I think it's obvious that my improvisation is heavily influenced by the masterful art of piano wizzard Keith Jarrett.
